Whitby.

Poem:

Dracula’s second home, an eerie sense that he’s gone.
Where life and death is a river apart, and the memories stay in our hearts.
The contrast makes it surreal, where history makes it real.
My senses tingle when thoughts about it flow into my mind, how small we are compared to life.
Making sure we do not forget, the time we have left…

It was a cold and cloudy day, a little drizzle and strong winds, due to Whitby being next to the Ocean. We walked around the seaside to capture the beauty of the ocean with our eyes. But little did we know there was a surprise waiting for us.

While walking down to the shop lots, I notice many people dressed up in unique outfits. And literally every 10 steps there’ll be someone either in a gown or a high hat with punk glasses on top. I was curious to know why they were dressed up like that, so I went and asked. To my surprise its was a steampunk festival therefore the outfits around Whitby. It was also a lucky day as it was the last day of the steampunk festival, and I got to witness something so bizarre.

Some people might think we dress up for attention purposes, but we dress up to show how special Whitby is.

George Stanton, 46, local.

After walking around, we stopped and had lunch in Quayside where it was said to serve the second best Fish and Chips in town. I say the second because the first one had a crazy long line and we had to wait for half an hour before being able to step inside the shop and start ordering our food.

After lunch we decided to continue exploring |what Whitby has to offer, so we climbed 199 steps to Whitby Abbey where we were able to capture the beauty and contrast of the thumbnail. I like this picture because it has an amazing contrast where it represents life and death. As I stand, I started to imagine the days where Dracula was roaming the lands and that just maybe the tombs near me lies a vampire.

One of our friend took pictures with the steampunk-ed locals.

Whitby is an amazing place if you’re into fantasy history and having to feel a slightly eerie ambience. I would recommend you, the one that’s reading this to visit Whitby if you can. It’s beauty, architecture and stories are one in a lifetime and you’ll never regret visiting Dracula’s home.
