One and only London

London has been a destination we have been looking forward to visit. City life, shopping streets and various cuisines, what’s not to love about London? It is a crowded place let me tell ya! Over the weekend we took a National Express bus down to Victoria coach station from Sheffield, a 4 hour bus journey seemed easy since we were all dead tired from classes. We took a 4 hour nap before finally reaching Victoria coach station.

The first thing we did when we reached was to get ourselves an Oyster card. Top up £21 and found our way back to our accommodation of the night. Since it was already 1143pm we decided to grab any food we see available and head on back and call it a night.

Our AirBnB accommodation was at the end of Zone 2 using the underground tubes. And after another half an hours walk, we finally reached our rooms.

The second morning was filled with excitement, solely because the 9 of us had to share 1 toilet. And there was 7 girls and 2 guys, imagine how early the girls had to wake up to get their hair and make up done. But after a 3 hour preparation, we were finally able to leave and start exploring London!

Public transport in London is pretty convenient if you minus the amount of different lines they have for their underground tubes. Getting from one point to the other was easy with the use of a map given when we bought our oyster card and Google maps. (Highly recommend anyone visiting London to check Google Maps before exploring anywhere.)

I’ve got to say that the first place we chose to visit was a beautiful and amazing place, it was Buckingham Palace. The amount of people there was crazy! I’ve never seen anything like it, but it was surreal to be in front of the palace.

After sightseeing and taking plenty of photos around Buckingham Palace, we decided to grab some food, and what better way to fill your tummy with some good old flat iron steak?

We walked for about 10 mins, with the help of Google Maps and viola! Flat Iron was there in sight. Although we had to wait a few minutes, it was worth the wait because of the food it served….

One serving of Steak is enough, plus who doesn’t love beer?

With the waiter teasing us with the food, our mouths watered when we tried to take photos of the food. After the cameras and smartphones where done, it was time to dig in into medium rare steak! The meal was superb and we were satisfied with it. It wasn’t expensive at all, one steak costs around £10 that comes with a side of salad.

After filling our tummies, we decided that after a sinful meal we should walk it off and started exploring what London has to offer. From architecture, designer brands and sneakers we had a hard time deciding where to go first.

Unfortunately Big Ben was cold due to the rainy weather

It was a rainy day after lunchtime and our next stop was to visit good old Ben. Unfortunately Big Ben was cold and had his raincoat on only leaving us his face to see. Although disappointed we were still happy to see Big Ben being taken care off.

Had to line up for around 10 mins before getting a seat at our table.

Dinner time approached while walking around the rain. A friend suggested to get some grub this time and we ended inside Burger & Lobster. Who would have imagined that we get to eat a lobster here in the UK? Definitely not us! But haha, we did.

When we ordered from the menu, we were having high hopes for it as we’ve heard many great reviews about the place. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly to us and took our orders. While we wait anxiously for the food to arrive we were having our time there talking about how our day went so far and what was our favourite memory till this date after arriving in the UK.

And then….. IT CAME!

Look at the size of it!

To some it may not look like much, but for students like us coming all the way from Malaysia, this was one meal we enjoyed ourselves to the brim. The texture, the flavour was so intense, we had to lick our fingers clean and leave the cutlery on the table. It was time to get our hands dirty!

We took slow and small bites, enjoying every bits and pieces that we could eat. And after we finished it was already 8pm. We’ve spent 3 hours inside Burger & Lobster, who would have thought we’d really took our time there.

Now, our last place to visit on the list was that the London Eye at night. We did a bit of research and found out that London Eye usually has red lights on during the night. This is because its sponsored by Coca-Cola, therefore the red colour.

There’s still so much to say about London, but all in all it was an amazing place that we still have a lot to find out. This is for you London! A place where a kid could only dream of going. Cheers!
